Grant turned 9!

Happy Birthday Grant!  His birthday was on a school night, so not much celebrating.  He chose to go to Great Wolf lodge over having a birthday party.  I did let him have one friend stay the night, but they had to go to Bailey's soccer game as entertainment.  They didn't even care!

You are the best third kid ever.  You get drug along to all kinds of sports and don't ever really get time at home to just be a kid.  But you love it and find all kinds of ways to entertain yourself.  Reading is still hard.  Lots of growth, but the actual act of reading is behind.  But you are so smart and can cover for it most of the time.  You have gotten connected with your friends on their ipads and will play roblox with them for hours.  You do have a temper when things don't go your way and act foolish.  You have no concept of healthy food choices.  You would prefer a diet of gummies and veggie straws if we let you.  You still want to snuggle every chance you get.  You have only lost 5 teeth.  So far behind!  But you are kind and happy and usually so easy to be around!

A few random things.

We had a rough go for about a month with sickness.  I think everyone but BJ had a go.  

Roman Day! Grant dressed as Julius Augustus.  He had to memorize a little speech to give in a wax museum.

Valentine's day! - We did our yearly scavenger hunt for their coupon books.  It's funny because they really don't use them much during the year - they save them and try to use all coupons within the last week before they expire!

I do make them go up and down the stairs, so they are earning their coupons!

Our church is opening a new sanctuary and they are reading the bible out loud straight through.  We volunteered for two 20 minute sessions and it was a really cool experience.

And now on to spring!  The weather is warming up and sports have begun!

Trolls!

Asheville hosted 12 Thomas Dambo trolls at the North Carolina Arboretum.   I made Bailey come with me the weekend before they left.  Not sure why, but I think they are so cool!  She humored me and came along with the promise of going out to eat on the way home =) 

These were more interactive than the ones we saw in Wisconsin.  (She was having a good time!)

We arrived around 10 and I saw they actually shut the gates at 1 because of the amount of people who had arrived.  Glad we went when we did!

And don't worry.  I kept my promise.

Great Wolf!

Great was set on having Great Wolf be his birthday event.  We booked, convinced some friends to come with us and headed out.  It was fun!

Snow Days

 The last two weekends have been bad winter weather.  Stuck at home on the weekends, not cool!  The first event was an ice storm.  

We went over to the golf course and sledded on the ice!  It worked great.

Then the next weekend we got 6" of snow!

We headed back to the golf course for our entertainment this weekend too!

On Sunday, Bailey and Andrew (and two neighbor friends) got a snow shovel, two rakes and a digging shovel and walked the neighborhood offering to clear driveways.  They made $204!!! and it kept them busy a good part of the day.  Grant was inside with a fever.  He and I are fighting stuff.  I have been sick with the flu and bronchitis stuff since MLK day.  No fun.  We are all ready to have some 60 degree weather!

The snow was real powdery, but as it started to melt I build this guy.
