Spring Break Adventures!–Post #1

The kids and I are home this week.  It is hard telling what we will get ourselves into!  Already we have had some excitement =).

Monday -

  • Dress up

“Goves and man purse”

  • Aligator Snapping Turtle – We came outside to find this big guy (after research, mostlikely a gal) hanging outside our front porch.  Andrew actually saw it first and nonchallantly said “Hi Turtle” on his way past to get to the sandbox.  (Like there is a turtle there ALL the time).  Luckly (or thankfully) he didn’t go close to it or pay it any attention at all.  Some neighbors were outside and together we got him into a toy bin and delivered him back to a nearby pond.  The thing did strike inside the box and was a bit scary to deal with even before we knew what kind it was!

  • Water table and popsicles – It was in the 80’s.  We were lovin’ it!  I always forget that when I say we can get out the water table that means swimsuit for Bailey.  It’s spring break!  Who cares!  Do what you want!…well…almost.

Tuesday -

  • Playgrounds – today the weather was beautiful!  We hit up BOTH local parks!

  • Eastern Fence Lizard – while we were out playing on our own playground waiting for BJ to get home, we spotted this cool guy!  We have those green lizards all over, but I haven’t ever seen one like this.  I did some MORE animal research to figure out what it was!  I am happy to report it is harmless.  (Unlike that turtle from the other day).

Can’t wait to see what else we will get into!  Living it up!

Easter!

Luke 24:15 - As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;

  • Jesus can be MANY things, but do you see Jesus as HIMSELF?  Or do you fit him neatly into what YOU need him to be?

On our way home from church we stopped for a quick photo shoot.  The weather was misty and foggy, but we did the best we could.  Here are my favorites.

After, the hunt began!  The Easter Bunny always hides the baskets and prizes!

After we had lunch we headed out into the mist/drizzle to hunt eggs!  It was a competition.  Andrew had the hang of it and was going as fast as his legs would go!  Neither kid was backing down!

It was a fun day with family and treats, all centered around Jesus Himself.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name.

Pre-Easter Fun!

We were invited to a fun egg-dying and hunting party Saturday before Easter.  It was perfect!  No one likes hard boiled eggs around here, so we got to have all the fun and were able to leave our eggs behind!

Andrew figured out he could bust them if he pushed hard enough.  We knew it was time to move on to something else!  Bailey decorated hers in the Frozen theme, of course.

The hunt was so fun, each kid had different kind of egg to find so the little ones would have a chance too!  Plus the yard was LOADED with prizes and toys with each kids name on them.

We ended with some fun playtime!

There were lepruchaun traps and shamrock shakes to make the day all the more fun!

It is rare they sit still long enough for a photo.  Two in three days is unheard of.

Michigan!–Part 3, Fire Station

Uncle Pat and Aunt Denise pulled some strings and got us a private tour of the Saline Fire Station, courtesy of Denise’s Uncle Joe.  Bailey loved it.  I think we all learned something!  Who knew there were so many kinds of firetrucks?!

Uncle Joe was great.  Bailey got to turn on the lights, sit in the driver’s seat and even try on HIS proective gear!

Thanks alot, Uncle Joe!  We had fun!

Michigan!–Part 2, The SNOW!

Well, the day Bailey has been wanting ALL winter finally came!  We woke up Saturday morning to a fresh dusting of the white stuff.  It came down through the morning so we headed to Mill Pond Park and she loved it!  (Grandma and Grandpa not so much – they had to go sit in the car…boo).

It came!!!

After sledding we headed over to the playground!  Whe knew that snow could make a playground even COOLER!

Don’t worry, Bailey was put to work with the chores too.  What is shoveling?  It didn’t last long.  She decided she would rather have Uncle Pat bury her feet.

Happy SNOW day!  We sure had fun!
