Back to School

Sadly, the summer had to come to an end.  So we all headed back to school.  Year 20 for me.

Grant, the only one that wasn't too cool to take their picture with their teacher!
We are so excited to have Mrs. Fain!

Daytona 2024!

Back to the beach we went!  Grandma and Grandpa allowed us to crash their relaxing beach vacay.  We were not able to stay as long and we didn't do anything big, but it was nice to have time to enjoy the beach.  We did all the normal activities - putt putt, fed the gators, rode some waves, crab hunted, night swam, built a sandcastle, went out to eat, laid around, and played plenty of whiffle ball.

We added puzzles this year!

I did take the big camera to get a few better quality shots -

Thanks for having us!  It was fun!

East Coast - Michigan

Our last stops were in my old state of Michigan.  We crossed the border and stopped at Sault Ste Marie.  It was cooler than I expected it to be.  We got to watch a tug boat push a barge through the lock that was closest to the viewing area as well as see a HUGE 1,000 ft. cargo boat go through.  We learned a lot about how the locks work and how important they are to shipping in that whole area.

Then we drove to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.  I never realized how beautiful the color of the water is in the upper Great Lakes.  The color is amazing.

The view from our RV.

We wanted to get out and see the Pictured Rocks from the water.  I looked into a lot of tours and we decided we would just rent a pontoon and go for it ourselves.  It was great!  We were supposed to go in the evening, but because of the forecasted winds we were able to get an earlier time.  BJ was our trusted captain and took us all along the shore.
Grant just sat in the back and ate snacks.  I don't think he even cared.

The Battleships

We named this one, potato rock.

This is a sunken ship, the Bermuda.  It sank in 1870.  It's just 12' below the surface.

When we finished we walked around Munising, visited their Visitor Center and had lunch.

This BBQ chicken pizza was very good!  With banana peppers!

Our last stop before our journey back home was Traverse City and a quick trip over to the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Crossing the Mackinaw Bridge.  It was scary, medal floor and windy.  Not something I want to do again.

However, the Traverse City Pie Company did not disappoint!

Climbing Grand Dune.

Our last night in our RV we walked over and capped off the trip with Putt Putt.

They ended their campground stays with some hammock basketball.  The next Olympic sport!

On our way home we were thankful to be able to stay with Uncle Pat and his family!  We got to see some baseball action and eat Jet's!  We also participated in another uprising sport - badminton baseball.

And our final stop...Uncle Chris'!  The boys pulled an all-nighter and stayed up till we left at 6:00am.  Uncle Chris fed them all the treats and played video games through the night.
Best night ever.  What a way to go out!
(They did sleep the entire 6 hour ride home)

And that's a wrap!  Another year in the books.
