Double Ear Infections…

no fun=(.
We finally took Bailey to the doctor yesterday to find she has a double ear infection.  This was her tonight (on meds because her fever was still 103 this afternoon), doesn’t she seem sick to you?

Weekend Recap

Even though it was a bit cooler we still had fun this weekend!  We rejoined the YMCA and have been to the “ool” to swim in the “wa” A LOT recently.  Here are a few photos from Saturday morning.

We both had forgotten how much Bailey LOVES the water.  It is amazing how fast she picks up things.  The second time we went she mastered how to balance and swim in the life jacket.  She can kick/paddle to get where she wants in the water.  And don’t worry, we have a little meltdown each time we have to leave.

Saturday afternoon we played outside and took a walk to the lake behind our house.

Bailey’s new thing is to pull her own wagon.  We are NOT allowed to help.

Then on Sunday afternoon, BJ’s parents and Uncle Chris met us for dinner.  After dinner, they came over to play.

Laundry Room sign!

We finally hung my new sign yesterday!  I really like how it turned out…

Love is in the air!

This weekend the project “bug” caught me!  I wanted to use my Silhouette again so I started decorating for Valentine’s Day.  Here is what I came up with…

IMG_6912

Project #1: Heart Banner – I used the Silhouette to cut out two different heart shapes, taped them together then used scrap fabric and tied the hearts together!

Project #2: Love block – I painted a wooden block white, cut out the letters and modge podged them on.

IMG_6914

Project #3: Berry Heart – I had some extra strings of red berries that I pinched together at the top, flipped over and formed into the heart shape. I added a white fabric bow to cover up the mass of stems where it all comes together.  I used another white piece of fabric to hang it over the mirror.

Project #4: The Love Birds:  This is my favorite from the day.  I used the silhouette to cut out everything, all I did was glue it on a blank sheet of white paper and stick it in the frame!

BJ read the Bible in a YEAR!

Last year I decided to read the Bible in a year. During the past year, I used the Bible App YouVersion and was able to keep track of verses that stuck out to me during the year. I could not list all the bookmarks I created so I went through and tried to pair it down to around 20 or so verses. I have started another plan this year. I am following a plan that will let me read the Bible through in chronological order this year.

Genesis 1:1 (ESV)

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Mark 12:30 (ESV)

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."

Luke 11:10 (ESV)

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

John 3:15 (ESV)

that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

John 3:16 (ESV)

"For God so loved the world , that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 10:9 (ESV)

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Proverbs 22:6 (ESV)

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Philippians 4:13 (ESV)

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Jeremiah 17:7 (ESV)

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord

2 Timothy 4:7 (ESV)

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Hebrews 13:8 (ESV)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 John 3:23 (NIV)

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

1 John 4:9 (NIV)

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

1 John 4:15 (NIV)

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.

1 John 5:15 (NIV)

And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

1 John 5:12 (NIV)

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Revelation 3:20 (NIV)

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Amos 5:14 (NIV)

Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.

Amos 5:4 (NIV)

This is what the Lord says to Israel:“Seek me and live;

Is it spring?

The weather has been spring-like the past few days and we have loved getting outside.  A friend at work told me about a Children’s Garden that we explored last weekend.  We took a picnic lunch and explored a little.

There are many neat things for them to run under and through.  There is even a little house to play in.  I am sure when everything isn’t brown, this place will be really pretty.

My new toy…

So for Christmas I was completely surprised when I opened my first gift to find the Silhouette Cameo.  I hadn’t even asked for it because I knew what it cost.  BJ had secretly told my parents about it and how I always mention “If I had a Silhouette, I could…”

AND NOW I CAN!=)

Here are some of the things I have done so far…

IMG_6566BJ keeps teasing that everything in the house will be labeled by the time I am done!  And maybe it will!

Cold Winter’s Meal

On a cold and rainy winter weekend not much is better than ham chowder and cornbread.  Since it tasted so good we had it BOTH Saturday and Sunday!
IMG_6577IMG_6578

Ham and Potato Chowder
1/4 cup butter
1 pound cooked ham (I use the little packs that already come cubed!)
1  chopped onion
2 chopped carrots
2 peeled and diced potatoes
1/2 cup flour
1 pint half and half
4 chicken bullion cubes
4 cups water

In a large pot add: butter, ham and onion until slightly tender.  Add carrots, potatoes, chicken bullion cubes and water.  Cook until tender.  In a small bowl, add flour and 1/2 cup half and half, whisking until smooth to make a slurry.  Add the remainder of half and half to the pot.  Add slurry and stir.  It should thicken quickly.

(I have adjusted the recipe a little from my original source but I thought I should list it anyway.  Recipe originally from The State Paper 11/7/04, given to me by Cynthia Pierce)

Who is watching who?

I was doing something in the other room and I came into our bedroom to find this! No one even looked up to acknowledge I was there.

New Year’s Eve

Well, we had a big party planned for New Year’s Eve.  All of BJ’s family was going to come over to our house (since last year we went to BJ’s Aunt’s house and Bailey CRIED and wouldn’t sleep – causing us to come home early).

First BJ’s Cousin had to work….they were out.

Then BJ’s mom got sick with the flu….so they weren’t going to come.

So BJ’s Aunt and Uncle said they were going to stay home too….that left us.

PARTY POSTPONED.

So to ring in the New Year, we had a little celebration of our own.  Mind you, it was at 6:30pm.

“Hello, Do you like my hat?  Yes, I do! I do, I like your party hat!”

IMG_6431

IMG_6456IMG_6449IMG_6435
What you don’t hear is the music and the high pitched screaming that is also going on. Every party has to have “I like to Move it, Move it!”  (Backitup, backitup, backitup)

IMG_6465IMG_6460

For the record, BJ and I did stay up to watch the ball drop (and I believe BJ kept on his party hat the ENTIRE night).  But we were in bed and fast asleep by 12:05.  We are old and lame.

2012 - Christmas at the Lake

After a long rainy car ride we finally made it back to South Carolina where we stayed a few days with BJ’s parents out at Lake Murray.

Maw Maw and Paw Paw thought they were funny by using USC wrapping paper.  In this photo we are “booooing” the Gamecocks.

Bailey was extremely excited to get her first dollhouse. Uncle Chris had given her all of the accessories that go with it so for the past few days they were homeless. The video is pretty funny around 40 seconds.

During the rest of our stay we had dance parties and races (stroller vs. lawn mower).
