2012 Christmas Eve– Part 2

We spent Christmas Eve relaxing at Aunt Tam and Uncle Bob’s house.  That evening everyone went to church and then came back to spend time together (and eat, of course).

We would never forget to leave Santa his treat.

2012 Christmas in South Point – Part 1

Christmas is going to be broken into a few posts.  I am still going through the 1,000+ photos that were taken.  Here are the upcoming posts:
1 – Christmas in South Point
2 – Christmas Eve
3 – Christmas Morning
4 – Christmas at the Lake
We arrived in South Point, Ohio two days before Christmas in time to see Sydney play in her basketball game.  Afterwards we went to Uncle Chris’ to open gifts.

Then a little later, we went out to Chad, Natalie, Sydney and Morgan’s to exchange gifts.  Let the good times roll!

IMG_5902Morgan was opening her nerf gun.  I think she was excited.

IMG_5916Syd got the game Fibber.

IMG_5930Bailey got a baby doll stroller.  And she was off!

IMG_5966A fierce battle took place with the nerf darts.  A master plan was also created to get Uncle Chad when he got home that night.

IMG_5957After walking about 6 miles around the room, Bailey took a break IN her baby doll stroller.  She also is wearing the Fibber glasses and nose.  Since everyone else was wearing them, she thought she should have a pair on too.

IMG_5935  Priceless.

The next morning we loaded up the car and headed to Troy.

DIY Christmas presents

IMG_5684

Every year I try to make a gift for some family members. I am sure my family really looks forward to these=)  This year it was name blocks with the year they were “established” or married at the bottom. Here is how a few turned out…

Christmas Decorations 2012!

Since we were heading out of town (and the winter storm gave me an extra day) I decided to take our Christmas decorations down December 21st.  I did snap a few photos first.  By the way, I am SO glad I had them down, you should have seen the mess our house was in when we got all our loot inside!  We must have been VERY good this year.

Our tree.  It was upstairs in the FROG room this year.

These are inherited Department 56 pieces.  Bailey really liked the cute village, however I think we said “just look” over 1,000 times.

IMG_5854

By far, this is my favorite Christmas decoration.  I am always tempted to leave it up all year.  (In fact, I have before.)

IMG_5852

This picture just proves I took the time to put the garland up in the kitchen.  However, it wasn’t as successful as I had to repair it many times.  Even duct tape wasn’t holding it! For some reason it kept falling, maybe due to the amount of dust build up?!

Lastly, our mantel.  The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

Draco and Euclid

Since when do winter storms have names?  When I did a little research, here is what the weather channel had to say…

“During the upcoming 2012-13 winter season The Weather Channel will name noteworthy winter storms. Our goal is to better communicate the threat and the timing of the significant impacts that accompany these events. The fact is, a storm with a name is easier to follow, which will mean fewer surprises and more preparation.”

Why do it?
  • Naming a storm raises awareness.
  • Attaching a name makes it much easier to follow a weather system’s progress.
  • A storm with a name takes on a personality all its own, which adds to awareness.
  • In today’s social media world, a name makes it much easier to reference in communication.
  • A named storm is easier to remember and refer to in the future.
As we prepared to travel to Ohio for Christmas, Draco stormed through forcing us to leave a day later than we had planned.  Then as we prepared to come back to South Carolina we had to race back before Euclid trapped us up there!

And my last question….When can the storm be named Lindsay?

Weekend Recap

This past weekend we went out to the lake to visit with BJ’s parents.  The weather was mid 60’s but it rained ALL day Sunday.  Here are a few photos!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was filled with holiday cheer!  The highs this weekend were in the 70’s so we took advantage and headed to the zoo.  Here are some highlights of the trip.

We watched as the penguins ate snack.
IMG_5439IMG_5446
Yes, she is all about touching and feeding wild animals, but won’t sit on Santa’s lap.  We don’t get it either.

Bailey’s first “choo-choo” ride.

Look at that tongue!

Then we took Bailey to see The Singing Christmas Tree Saturday evening at our church.  She actually lasted about 45 minutes.  We were proud.

On Sunday we had planned to go to the Blythewood Christmas Parade, however Bailey chose to sleep late instead.  There is always next year!  So we went to her favorite place instead…the playground!

Our Visit with Santa 2012

Well, we went to visit Santa tonight.  The following pictures should indicate how Bailey feels about Santa…

When we got home and checked the mail, Bailey had a letter from Santa too!  We decided she likes Santa much better from a distance.

It even came with a cute little elf ornament.
