Why?

This was the conversation on the way home from Ms. Judy’s today…

Bailey: Mommy, where are we going?

Me: We are going home.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Because we have to go home to get dinner ready.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Because I am hungry.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Because I haven’t eaten since lunch.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Because I don’t have snack like you.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Because I didn’t pack one.

Bailey: Why?

Me: Why me?

Then I just started answering her Why? with Why? and she started cracking up laughing in the back!  Let the good times roll!

Movie and Campout!

Last Friday BJ’s work put on a movie and campout in the park.  Bailey was so excited to get to sleep in a tent.  When we got up Friday morning she asked if we could go then!

IMG_1257

Since BJ had been there most of the afternoon getting ready, Bailey and I were one of the first people to arrive.  BJ had already put up our tent so Bailey enjoyed playing in it.  She liked to stick her head out the “doggie door.”

IMG_1211IMG_1214

The event was held at a big soccer complex so Bailey also got her first taste of the game.  Sign her up!

IMG_1219IMG_1231

BJ had spent about an hour marking off different camp sites with these orange flags.  It would have taken Bailey about 5 minutes to undo it all.  She was SO proud of herself for finding an orange flag!  She is pretending to have a parade.

IMG_1233

Before the movie started they had Disney music coming from the speakers at the screen.  At one point Bailey took off toward it by herself.  She got this close and sat down all on her own.  She said she was “watching the music.”  She got REALLY excited when Pocahontas or Cinderella songs would come on.

IMG_1240IMG_1247

After the movie, they turned on the big lights so people could see to get back to their tents.  Bailey would not sleep until the lights went out.  She wasn’t going to miss ANYTHING.

We were exhausted, but it was fun!

Bible Verse of the Week!

Romans 8:28 (NIV)

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

What's going on?

1. Riding Bikes with Daddy – Bailey really loves to ride bikes.  The past couple weekends she and BJ have gone to the playground.  She still wants to go FAST -  ALL the time.
IMG_1199IMG_1191
2. School board meeting – Last Tuesday I attended the board meeting to accept a plaque for my door at school.  I am the Teacher of the Year at my school and then made it into the top 5 of the district (that is what “Honor Roll” means).  The top picture was taken by a principal in the audience as I was congratulated by each board member.

3. Crocheting a hat – I decided I wanted to get a newborn hat for our little guy.  I looked and decided it was too expensive to buy one. So I stopped at Walmart the next day and purchased yarn.  The next two nights I taught myself enough to put together this creation – no prior knowledge or experience!  Please don’t look real close=).  It is a newborn Santa hat!  I have no idea if it will fit his little head or not!

4. Killing a snake – BJ found this sunning itself in the flower bed.  He promptly chopped off his head (bottom left) and buried it out back.  After some research we think it is a Juvenile Rat Snake.  Great….now we will have rats.

5. The BEST new thing….some may call them cravings, but I just think it is REALLY good ice cream (….that I need to eat every night).

Bible Verse of the Week!

John 6:35, 40 (NIV)

35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.  40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Zoo Day!

This morning we decided to head to the zoo.  It was “enrichment day” or something – we didn’t know anything about it, but Bailey was able to make spin art, a noodle necklace and get a cool giraffe tattoo!

IMG_1106IMG_1116

And onto the animals…

IMG_1130

The gorilla exhibit is not great at our zoo.  There are many places for the gorillas to hide and for some reason we rarely see them.  But today they were both out and about showing off and strutting their stuff.  I would hate to come across one in the wild.

IMG_1143

The bears were putting on a water show as we walked by.  The one was hanging on the log, rolling around with it.  This is a photo of the other one “jumping” in.  I probably shouldn’t call it a jump, more like a flop.

IMG_1148

Usually the lions are laying down, sunning themselves = BORING.  Today the female lion had that white bucket and the male basically attacked her, took it, and ran away to hide in the little hole in the wall.  I am sure he will pay for that later=).

The giraffe’s.  Enough said, I could stay here all day and watch them.

IMG_1144

Bailey also rode the train by herself for the first time today.  She is growing up!  (Or we were just too cheap to pay an additional $2.00 for one of us to ride with her).

OSU vs. Cal–with Grandma and Grandpa

Last weekend Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit.  Time always goes too fast when they are here.  Bailey loved having them stay the night and really enjoyed waking them up each morning.  (“Grandma, GET UP!” – about 6 inches from her face.) We didn’t take many photos, but here are a few out at the lake on game day.

BJ’s parents had found this alligator pool noodle and Bailey loved it.  She is really into Peter Pan and kept making it say “Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.”

Bible Verse of the Week

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

The first part of this verse is Bailey’s memory verse of the month at church.  She gets candy if she knows it in Sunday school.  We practice each night before bed.  She will get candy=).

OSU vs. San Diego State

Bailey’s quotes and photos from the game yesterday…

“No, that NOT Wilson.”  One of Bailey’s favorite things right now is the Chuggington train characters.  One of the choo-choo trains is named Wilson.  When BJ said that Wilson (Dontre) scored the first touchdown, Bailey looked at him like “are you crazy?”  “That NOT Wilson.”IMG_1031

…“It’s Over?” when a commercial came on during the 1st quarter…

IMG_1026

“He has no booboo’s?” When a player was tackled hard and jumped back up for the next play.

IMG_1022

The referee was waving his arms up and down and Bailey thought he was doing the “O-H.”  “That man say O-H”

IMG_1055IMG_1053

“I put my helmet on like that man” – OR like all the players?

IMG_1036

I asked BJ who player 83 was during the game.  He responded “Michael Thomas.”  Then Bailey  (who was half listening to our conversation) chimed in with “I want to watch Pocahontas.”

Half Time Energy Break!

Daddy Day Out!

Yesterday I needed to get the house cleaned so it can get ready to go back on the market, so before football began BJ took Bailey to Edventure, the local children’s museum.  These are phone pictures, but you get the idea.

On Saturday morning’s they do a read-a-long with an activity.  The activity was mixing colors of paint with a cotton ball to make new colors.  BJ said Bailey wasn’t real interested.

32!

BJ is old.  He spent the day doing yard work and getting a hair cut.  Here are a few highlights.

Firehouse picnic lunch with Bailey.

IMG_0989

When I asked Bailey what we should get Daddy for his birthday, she instantly said “cupcakes!”  If nothing else, she knows birthdays=cupcakes.  Bailey also needed to have candles on her cupcake too.

While BJ was doing yard work, Bailey had some fun in the sprinkler.  It was a HOT one.

Ohio State vs. Buffalo–Let the games begin!

We loaded up the car last Friday and headed to Ohio.  We dropped off Bailey at “Sydney and Morgan’s” house and continued up to Columbus for the day.  We got there in time to see the team walking from the hotel over to the Skull Session.

After the game we headed to Mongolian BBQ to celebrate BJ’s birthday.  It was a lot of driving in a few days, but oh so worth it.  How firm thy friendship=)
