1st day of preschool! (sniff, sniff)

Today Bailey started preschool!  We are so proud of her and thrilled she had a great first day.  She is going full days all week but it is at my school so I am close by if needed.  She is very secretive and won’t tell us much of how her day went. =)  She always asks us a million questions, but I guess we aren’t allowed to ask her any!

Here she is before we left:

What you are doing-

  • You are everywhere.  You are crawling and climbing all over.  You can climb up the stairs.  You enjoy climbing up on top of the Little Tike’s picnic table and try to sneak up the stairs whenever no one is looking.  You are fast, sneaky fast. You will not hold still for anything.
  • You are about out of 12 month clothes – most are 12-18 months.
  • Sleep is about the same as last month.  Still going to bed at 7:30, getting a dream feed around 10-11 and sleeping through till 7 or so.
  • Still just eating baby food.  Anything else causes you to gag and spit up – even more than you still normally do!  You eat lots of baby oatmeal and rice cereal.  As for baby food, you don’t really have a favorite but you don’t dislike any either!  You’ll eat anything!
  • It is impossible to change your diaper, get you dressed – anything that requires you to sit still.  You hate it.  You roll and arch your back.  You cry when we pull you back. Then you roll some more.
  • You follow Bailey everywhere and she loves it.  She looks out for you and yells when you are into something bad….happens frequently.=)  “Mom!  Andrew’s on the table!” or “Mom!  Andrew’s getting the nightlight, again!” or “Mom! Andrew’s going up the stairs!” or “Ahh, he spit up!”
  • In the last week or so you have started making some sounds – not to identify anything, but it is a start!  So now you have Heeeeyyy, Muuuum, and Bah.
  • You still don’t have any teeth, but we think some are real close.  You chew on everything. (At 8 months, 2 days you now have 2 bottom teeth coming through.  I forgot how much fun teething is…poor guy.)
  • You enjoy swimming, floating around at the pool more these days (now that the summer is almost over).  You don’t dunk your face in it quite as much as before!
  • You are happiest in the play room.  You constantly go from toy bin to toy bin.  Your favorite toys are the bin of pretend food (you like to roam around with a piece hanging out of your mouth), a little blue stuffed elephant rattle, the stand up activity tables and the tunnel.

A few other recent photos…

Baileyfish!

Over the past two days Bailey decided she was going to swim – no lifejacket, no floaties.  She basically mastered it all Friday evening.  We got there and everything was normal, then she wanted to take off her water wings and by the time we were leaving she was like a fish – even jumping off the side and swimming back to the wall.  Yesterday she even started coming up for air and going longer distances.

Scripture to remember

This month we are trying to remember…

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

OR Bailey’s version - Nothing can separate us from God’s love. =)

A hot mess.

This is how Bailey dressed when we went on a walk today.  She had on church clothes and I told her to go change.  So this is what she came up with.

Don’t worry, she even remembered the pixie dust, because she was actually going to fly on this walk.

Why not?  What more can I say….

Yes Andrew, she does look funny.  But it isn’t nice to laugh at your sister.

Road Trip–4H, Firepit/Lightening bugs, Waterpark

The county fairgrounds are just down the road from my parents house so we ended up going to the 4H show twice!  The first time all the animals were just arriving and we were just checking it out.  The highs were in the 60’s and it gave us a nice taste of fall.  I can’t wait for sweatshirts and jeans!  Anyway, we saw lots of farm animals and had a fun time.  Just Bailey and I went back the second time on “Activity Day” for kids.  It was fun and Bailey LOVED the bunnies.  She even declared they were “calling her to come back” and would “miss her when she was gone.”   Doubt it, since she would get her head right in their faces and reach her fingers in their cages to poke, I mean pet them. =)

Oh there were lamas too.  You know, your typical farm animals!?

BJ and I stepped back and laughed while this photo was taken.  Bailey climbed up on the bleachers and started asking a million questions, rapid fire.  My poor dad was there to answer one after another, after another, after another.  They were watching a horse do it’s routine (?) in the equestrian ring.  I never knew there could be so many questions.  “Why is it walking? Why is it running?  What is the rider wearing?  Who goes next?  Now what are they doing? Why?” and on and on and on. Sorry Dad, but thanks for taking one for the team.

Firepit! – The evening lows were in the 50’s so we decided to have a firepit!

IMG_7621IMG_7623

Bailey found that super long stick and thought she should make her smore on it!  She also declared the PURPLE chair as hers.

IMG_7627IMG_7635IMG_7633

After smores, I took Bailey in to get her bath and then we came back out to catch lightening bugs!  We don’t have them down here, maybe because it is too hot?, so it was a new thing for her.  She had a blast running all over the place trying to catch them and put them in the jar.

Sometimes your booty needs warmed up a little too.

Rolling Hills Water Park! – This is probably the biggest decision we made on our trip – to go or not to go.  I REALLY wanted to go, but the highs were just in the mid 70’s.  So not real hot.  Well we went and had a great time, but got REAL cold when the sun started to go down.  Bailey even had blue lips, but didn’t want to stop!

IMG_7811IMG_7818IMG_7813

There was a really cool area for kids Bailey’s age that had lots of sprayers and smaller slides.  Even Andrew decided to crawl over and put his head right under the waterfall.  We were basically the only people there, due to the COOL temps!

IMG_7823IMG_7824

Bailey was only tall enough to go down the big tube slides with an adult.  But she loved it!

IMG_7829

She also loved the wave pool.  It was just like the ocean….kind of.  Even though it was cold, it was still fun!

Road Trip–Toledo Zoo

It is so much fun to go to a zoo that has different animals than what we are used to.  Polar Bears and Hippos both have great exhibits at the Toledo Zoo and our zoo doesn’t have either so Bailey was pumped!

IMG_7664IMG_7783

We headed straight for the Polar Bears and they did not disappoint.  Two were play fighting as we walked up.  Another was swimming all around.  When we walked past later, one was perched up top looking down at the others playing in the water.

IMG_7667IMG_7670

One of the hippos was also swimming around…

IMG_7680IMG_7682

While we were watching the elephants, their trainers were working with them.  This elephant was moving and flipping the wooden stump all over.

IMG_7688IMG_7699

At the petting zoo, this goat wouldn’t let go of my pant leg!

IMG_7693

They also have a stream where kids can take off their shoes to play.  The look on Andrew’s face says, “What are you people doing? Just put me back in the stroller and let me ride around.”

IMG_7727IMG_7734

Gorillas!  The one looked like a pretty mean dude.

IMG_7759

Grandma and Grandpa paid for Bailey to go on the carousal ride and she was thrilled.  She has recently started watching Mary Poppins, so she really wanted her horse to come off and race!

This tiger’s eyes were looking right at YOU!  And it is always cool to see a bald eagle that close!
