O’ January…

How can you be over already?!  Here is a quick recap of a few things we did this month. 
1. Girls day out!  Grandma, Bailey and I headed to the USC Women’s basketball game to see them defeat Missouri.  It was Bailey’s first game and she had a great time.  It was really hard for her because we DO NOT root for the Gamecocks, but they were winning from the start. 

2. Trip to the zoo with friends!  Here we are on the carrosuel.

3. SNOW??!?!  not really.  Big storm Jonah threatened ice and snow for a little while and then all went north.  We got about an hour of “sleet” rain one night and an hour of “snowflakes” the next morning.  That’s all.  bummer.

4. Snow day!  One Sunday we got a little crafty.  We hunted for snowflakes, drew chalk snowmen, made a COOL snowfort (that Andrew distroyed in 2 seconds), made frozen baking soda snowmen and borax snowflakes. 

5. Brown Bear, Brown Bear.  Andrew’s favorite book.  BJ reads it with him OVER and OVER and OVER.  Andrew can recite it word for word.  He gets a little camera shy here…

6. Neigh-neighs.  Today we ventured over to One Wood Farm for the Gamecock Equestrian match?  meet?  competition?  It was very clear there is a LOT we don’t know about the whole event. 

People are allowed to go into the stables while the event is going on.  We happend to be there when they had to get the next round of horses ready so they were getting saddled up and paraded around.  Andrew is with Barbie and Bailey is with Toby.

7. and lastly…

We needed a new storage shelf to organize some of the clutter in the playroom.  Here is the crew putting it together. 

Good work team.  It is still standing 7 hours later.

Zoo…

I didn’t intend to do a zoo post.  I didn’t even take our big camera.  But so many animals were moving and doing different things!
The otters were playing with Andrew!

Parakeets!

Gorillas!  Up in the trees – we watched this guy climb up and sit for a while!  Then he climbed back down.  It was pretty cool.

The lions and tigers were up walking around (they are usually asleep).  And Andrew was brave enough to pet the giraffe, but still wouldn’t feed it!

New Year’s 2016!

On short notice I had to come up with a “plan B” for the evening!  Instead, Grandma and Grandpa came over for some “bags of fun.”  (I had taken note cards and written out what we were going to do and put it in a brown paper bag.)  Starting at 5:30 Bailey and Andrew got to open up a brown paper bag every 30 minutes and we HAD to do what it said inside.  (The last bag was at 8:00 – bedtime, means bedtime!)  When Grandma asked what she could bring – I said a sense of humor and a willingness to try new things!

5:30 – Decorate our hats!

6:00 – Drink some bubbly and have a DANCE party!  Cheers!

6:30 – M&M straw games

Game 1 – 30 seconds to see how many you get from one plate to the other.

Bailey started to eat BJ’s when he got more than she had!

Game 2 – blow your cup to the middle first.  Andrew reached and stole Grandpa’s cup!

7:00 – Snowball fight with FORTS

7:30 – Ping Pong contest….might resemble another game.  This one was timed to see how many you could get in 30 seconds.  But only two people got to go because Andrew decided it was more fun to knock over all the cups than bounce a ball into them.  BJ is worried, Bailey was good.

8:00 – sparklers and fireworks!  Our town sets off fireworks at 8:30 so we headed there and it was well worth it!  Since the temperature was still about 70 degrees, it was perfect.  Then we came back home to light our sparklers – and called it a wrap!  It was fun!
