Amelia Bedelia turns 50!

A few weeks ago, Herman Parrish visited our school.  He is the nephew of Peggy Parrish who was the original author of the Amelia Bedelia books.  Since Peggy retired, Herman has taken over as the author of the newer books.  During his presentation, he needed someone to dress up as Amelia.  Guess who was the lucky one?! (The photos are a little blurry, but I think it gets the point across!)

When I entered the assembly, I was “dusting” all the children!  And my hat fell off!

Should I be worried everyone said I made the “perfect” Amelia Bedelia??

COLD and WET…

Yesterday was a crazy weather day.  We went out to the lake to celebrate Terry’s birthday.  It started as lots of rain, then sunny, then rain again, then hail, then SNOW flurries, then sun again, then cold, cold WIND, and lots of it!
It has been a struggle because all Bailey wants to do its go “outside.”
We gave in a couple times yesterday:

Is it Sunny in here?

Happy Valentine's Day!  BJ and I decided not to do anything for Valentine’s Day this year.  We continued the tradition of pizza and cheesy bread, and couldn’t have been happier.  BJ did make me a cute little coupon book=).  We did get Bailey a little treat bag with some new shades.  She wasn’t with me when I purchased them, so I didn’t know how they would fit….a little large, but she loves them.

Nnn ooo ooooo

Bailey’s newest word.  After much worry and wait, we are finally noticing new words almost daily.  At 21 months, it is about time=)

Today’s new words: Wal-mart and fish (as in fish crackers)!

**Please disregard the state of our bedroom.  Yes, big laundry basket behind us, dirty clothes everywhere!  Give us a break, we just got back from the beach!**

Myrtle Beach and the attack of the killer birds!

Bailey had been very excited to get down to the “beeeee-ch.”  She carried her bucket all the way to collect shells.  However, she wants nothing to do with the sand or water.  If she has to touch the sand to get the shell out, she isn’t interested.  She will find another one!

We were throwing shells into the water.
It was great until a big wave came, then Bailey would take off running!

Then we got the great idea to take bread down to feed the seagulls.  WOW.  I was scared.  Looking back, I don’t know what we were thinking.

A sweet, innocent looking “tweet tweet.”

At first, not many birds hovering.  Then they ALL came and they were ATTACKING!

IMG_7416
Bailey had a piece of bread in her hand and one swooped down and took it!

I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough.  I almost threw the bag and took off running.

In all the madness, Bailey could have cared less.  She just wanted a fish cracker.

Myrtle Beach–Around town

Saturday afternoon we went out to explore!

Checkmate!

Really, is anything better than a playground on the beach?

Bailey didn’t quite get the hang of “putt putt.”  Instead she liked to throw the ball off the course and then climb on the obstacles.  Maybe it is a new variation?

On the 14th Avenue Pier, we saw a fisherman catch a sting ray.

On our way back to the car we saw horses on the beach!  This one is Chico.  The man (cowboy?) was really nice and even offered to let Bailey sit on him.  However, she declined with a violent head shake no.

In this picture, Bailey is fascinated by her shadow.  There is music playing and she is swinging her arms and watching herself dance.  It was really funny.

On Sunday morning we had to kill about 15 minutes waiting for the pool to open.  We spent time playing shuffleboard and more putt putt.

Dunes Village Resort, Myrtle Beach

Last weekend we packed up and drove to Myrtle Beach for a quick weekend get-away.  We had a great time and packed a lot in a couple short days.  We chose this place because it has an indoor water park!
Here are our photos from the pool.

The first day on the waterslides, Bailey wasn’t real sure, but by the last day she LOVED it!  As soon as she got to the bottom, she would say, “gin.”  She even went down one time by herself…on accident.

Want to play house?

One of Bailey’s favorite things to do these days is play house with the dollhouse she got for Christmas.  Every morning we get everyone up and each night we must put them ALL back to bed again.

Time to go “night, night.”  Hope Daddy’s neck doesn’t get too sore since it is hanging off the end of the bed.=)  At least he isn't sleeping in the bath tub tonight!
