Christmas is in the Air!

The tree is up, some presents are wrapped (not many), lights are a-glow, and the Little People manger scene is everywhere!  - and all animals say “moooo” if you ask Andrew.

Bailey was a big helper putting up the tree.  She loved every minute of getting out the decorations and putting them up.  One year, I want a real tree – BJ says no.

Andrew’s first reaction to the tree and ornaments when he got up from his nap.  So far (fingers crossed) he hasn’t really bothered it.  He looks and points at the ornaments, but doesn’t really touch them or try to take them off.

MaMaw Miller brought me a Christmas picture frame for hosting Thanksgiving.  So the pressure was on to get a photo to fill it.  Here are the best ones….by far.

The season (and all the excitement it brings) is here!  And I’m loving it!

Thanksgiving 2014

To start the day we competed in our first (dare I say annual) Turkey Trot.  We ran/walked in the 1 mile family fun option.  It was fun!  The weather was in the low 40’s, but it was windy.  I was proud of Bailey she did the whole thing without a ride.  Here are a few photos!

Pre-Race

IMG_9284IMG_9283

This was a very low-key event – maybe 300 runners in the 5k and about 100 people in the family part.  We were hanging out in the back waiting to start.

IMG_9290IMG_9289

Andrew – probably thinking “here we go again.”  Bailey was getting her pre race stretching in.  This was followed by about 12 jumping jacks and then she needed a rest. ha!

During the Race

IMG_9293IMG_9296

On the right, we rounded the corner and she could see the finish!  They have the timing set up where we finish right before the first 5k runners.  So there are some family/friends standing around cheering us on!  Bailey loved it.

The Finish!

Andrew also completed his first race – here is his finish!

Later in the day we had BJ’s family over for some low key turkey food and fun.

Count down till Turkey Time!

This weekend we started gearing up for Thanksgiving!

Bailey and I made these awesome treats!  (note: do not give right before bedtime.)

Our annual Thankful Tree is up and decorated!  This year Bailey added “friends” and “teachers.”

A few weekends ago when the leaves were SO pretty in our neighborhood we went on a leaf hunt and collected leaves for our turkeys.

And today we made our place cards for Thursday’s meal.  I think they turned out cute – BJ says they look like peacocks.  whatever.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Psalm 95 (KJV)

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Here are a few of Bailey’s comments during the OSU games the past couple weeks:

  • At the beginning of the game when they were showing the “O-line” headshot photos she said “Where is Daddy’s picture?” ha!
  • She always asks if Grandma and Grandpa are there.
  • When OSU was driving she said – “We almost made it to the letters!”  (or almost scored a touchdown because the end zones have the team names)
  • When they get tackled she is always concerned.  “Did that guy get hurt?”
  • When Penn State was punting she asked “Who kicked it?”  When we said we didn’t know she said his name could be “Johnny.  Johnny Smith.”  We said, it could be?!
  • “Does his helmet have glass?”  She was talking about the plastic shields some players wear on their helmets.  Who notices those things?
  • When someone got hurt, a golf cart drove on the field and she exclaimed – “There is a golf cart on the field!”  and “Where are they taking him?” and “Why is he hurt?  Did someone kick him?”
  • She also calls the field goal posts “Big U’s.”
  • She knows to root for the red team.  It is hard to explain when we wear the white uniforms!

And this past weekend…

Andrew–11 months

IMG_9210IMG_9206

On the 18th you were really sick with a bad cold.  All evening you were fussy.  You have major bed head and your nose was so red.  Daddy said – take the photos anyway – so these were the best I got.

Unofficial Stats – 25.3 pounds

IMG_9228IMG_9223

What you have been doing:

  • You are a walker, getting ready to run!  You keep your legs pretty straight and sort of waddle side to side.   It isn’t nearly as bad as it was at first.  We can to go the playground and you love to walk around and find Bailey.
  • You can say “ball, mama, dada and mooo.”
  • Your favorite game is peek-a-boo.  You like to turn your head sideways and look under and around things.
  • You have 3 bottom teeth.
  • You love spaghetti (penne noodles) with red sauce.
  • You are getting close to dropping the morning nap.  Some days you need both and others you just lay in there and talk to yourself (or yell to us!).
  • Your favorite toys to play with have wheels (shopping cart, little toy cars, Bailey’s princess carriage) and things that swing open and shut (books, doors, play oven).
  • You hold out your pointer finger (but don’t really point at anything, yet.)

That one, over there is ours.

When we went to get Andrew from church today, he was in the “time-out” high chair!!  Yes, our kid.  Oh Dear.  Apparently he was “bullying” the others – or pushing them down, so they said.  And I believe every word of it.  They asked if he had older brothers.  yikes.  Hopefully, they said a prayer for him (and us!)!

Can you believe this kid was trouble?  (It was at lunch, excuse the pea on his face!)

IMG_9201

Wild and crazy?  No, not Andrew!  (I hope you can sense the sarcasm.)

And here is his partner in crime.  I think she has everyone fooled.  =)

SNOW, cold and daylight savings.

SNOW - We could hardly believe it!  We opened the blinds Saturday morning to see big flakes coming down.  The weathermen completely missed the forecast, again.  Bailey looked out and exclaimed, “Winter is here!”  She was ready to sled.  Too bad it continued to rain until it was melted.  We never got to play =(.

IMG_9113IMG_9114IMG_9120

Bailey went out on the front porch, but was mad it was raining.  Andrew was real excited, he didn’t know why – but he could feel it in the air!…the cold air!

COLD

At one point Sunday we HAD to get out of the house!  We all bundled up and went on a walk.  Bailey called their hats “pinecone hats.”  Apparently she thinks the ball thing on the top looks like a pinecone!

IMG_9143IMG_9140IMG_9149IMG_9152

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.

Change is hard.  Even for me.  This was Saturday night as the Buckeyes were coming on.

Bailey – full meltdown mode.  Nothing could go her way.  She was not happy I was taking her picture.  She is our kiddo that NEEDS sleep.

IMG_9125IMG_9124

and Andrew – time to PARTY!!  Lovin’ the extra hour out of bed!

IMG_9133IMG_9127IMG_9128

Who needs sleep?!
